Welcome to Rock Cut State Park

Rock Cut State Park is a 3,092-acre park located in Loves Park, IL with easy access from Illinois Rte. 173 exit off Interstate 90. An outdoor oasis in the middle of the Stateline area, Rock Cut is the largest state park in Northern Illinois and offers hiking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoe trails, a campground, and two lakes for fishing and paddling. The Lone Star Café next to the outdoor store offers quality, made from scratch food and a variety of drink options. Make it a point to take in the best dining view in the Stateline Area!  

We are a private business operating the concession/commercial operations at the park. We provide this information as a courtesy to our customers and the community. We are completely separate from the State of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and have no other park information other than that provided on this site. If you have additional questions about Rock Cut outside the concession operations, please call the park office or visit the park’s website.

Rock Cut State Park is open every day, except during the handicap hunt.  

Winter Park Hours: November– March, 8AM–5PM 
Summer Park Hours: April–October, 6AM–10PM

Distance around Pierce Lake via trails is roughly 4 miles 
Pierce Lake is 160 acres 
Olson Lake is 60 acres 
Swimming and wading are prohibited at Pierce Lake
Swimming is permitted at Olson Lake
There is no charge to launch a boat or kayak on either lake
There is a no wake rule on Pierce Lake
Only boats with electric motors or carry-in watercraft may be used on Olson Lake
All watercraft must comply with State of Illinois watercraft rules and regulations
